Sweethearts and Heroes Bring Inspiration To Our School

We were happy to welcome back Sweethearts & Heroes to our school this month! This nationally recognized anti-bullying program empowers students to become 'heroes' by standing up against bullying and supporting their peers through acts of kindness.
Founders Tom Murphy, former MMA champion, and Rick Yarosh, retired Army Sergeant, who was injured while serving in Iraq, presented their message of H.O.P.E. (Hold On, Possibilities Exist) to our 3-12 grade students. Through engaging storytelling, interactive activities, and powerful role-playing, they showed students how to recognize bullying, build empathy, and help those in need.
"The presentation really made an impact on our students. Tom and Rick reframed the discussion about bullying and gave students tangible ways to make positive changes," said Assistant Principal Joel Richardson.
Rick also visited elementary classrooms to read his book - a story about his therapy dog, Amos. "It was great for our elementary students to get to hear from Rick in a smaller setting. His positive attitude in the midst of adversity is a wonderful example for our students to follow," said Elementary Principal Joseph Siracuse.
