MINUTES FROM PTO MEETING MAY 9, 2007

Cindy McFarland, Annette Byrne, Carolyn Bell, Susan Chura, Tracy Zordan,
Annemarie Strife, Alan Ball, Loretta Ippotito, Jeanne Murphy

PTO Minutes read by Cindy from April’s Minutes:
-
All in favor
-
Annette Burns motioned.
Treasurer Report:
-
Alan reported the unofficial amount in the
treasury is $16,295.67 give or take a few dollars.
Correspondence:
Annette Burns reported that Stewart’s is nut free:
-
They sterilize all equipment after each
batch;
-
no real confirmation if Stewart’s is truly
nut free
Art Works:
-
Did anyone have any problems with Art Works;
-
The fundraiser came in today, May 9, 2007;
-
Most children got their fundraiser – if they
did not receive it – messages were left on parents phones to come in and
pick up items;
-
If pictures were too big – Art Works sent
back to Annette and she cut them better and resent art to Art Works – items
should be in within a couple of weeks;
-
Late orders should be back in a couple of
weeks;
-
$2,453.50 was raised from the fundraiser;
-
$1,500.00 is owed to Art Works;
-
$953.50 was the profit for the PTO.
Options for next year’s Art Works:
-
Maybe have students do in the Art Room
instead of taking it home to do;
-
Look into another company called Original
Works which may only be about 50 cents cheaper.
Other Ideas on Future Fundraisers:
-
One person should handle every event –
including handling all checks – good and bad;
-
As soon as checks come in should deposit
immediately to find out if check will go through.
-
Send notes home with fundraiser if checks
come back you need to make good on it or you will not receive the
fundraiser.
Enjoy the City:
-
Tammi Dehler said Enjoy the City said we
still owed them $243.00.
-
Tammi spoke to company and told them to drop
money in question due to the poor business we received;
-
They finally did drop it and asked for our
business again.
Old Business:
-
We raised $645.00 between checks and cash
for Mother & Son Bowling;
-
Stewarts donated 50 make your own sundae
coupons;
-
Tom Walsh gave $100 donation for being
repeat customers;
-
130 people showed to mother son bowl;
-
18 students did not show (not sure if due to
nice weather or just forgot);
-
4 parents responded to what else they would
like ex. Movie night, Roller Skating, Night out at school.
New Business:
Summer Skills Sharpener:
-
Received Summer Skills.com;
-
Called and asked for samples;
-
Will not do summer program this year;
-
$15.00 a copy;
-
Mr. Siracuse was interested;
-
Not sure if parents would be interested;
-
Think it would be another thing we would be
chasing money for;
-
If students need it – the teacher should
suggest it;
-
Tell Mr. Siracuse not interested now – maybe
start in April of next year – still questionable.
Ann Marie Strife (Advisor of K-6 Yearbook):
-
Successful yearbook – only 2 mistakes in
book.
-
Asked PTO to purchase 2 books per classroom
for teachers to give out to children who may not be able to order one or
just a really good kid but did not purchase one;
-
$12 per yearbook – 42 books – 2 per
classroom – total of $504.00 from PTO.
-
Annette Burns motioned – all in favor
PTO Buys the Seniors T-Shirts:
-
The seniors receive the T-Shirts on moving
up day;
-
$621.10 is the bill owed;
-
61 white T-Shirts were purchased also
includes the set up charges.
Class of 2007 Senior Breakfast:
-
Friday, June 8th is breakfast;
-
Checks are to be made out to the Veteran’s
of Lansingburgh;
-
Should look into breakfast somewhere in
Waterford next year – too late to stop the event for this year.
-
Senior T-shirts and breakfast are budgeted
items – supported in the past
-
Nicole Spulnick is the Class Advisor.
Concerns of the PTO:
-
People need to come to PTO to ask for
donations;
-
More parents need to attend PTO meetings;
-
Besides a newsletter – maybe have a website;
-
Asked Tammi or Cindy to draft a letter to
parents in regard to our concerns.
-
Ann Marie Strife will speak at next faculty
meeting about people needing to attend PTO meetings when asking for help.
Marcy Filo in charge of PTO Website:
-
She would like to be here but unable at this
time;
-
She will update the PTO website;
-
She will do the newsletter on the back of
the lunch menu which will start in September;
-
Should do one in June to make people aware
that it will be happening in September.
Box Tops:
-
Theresa Kennedy takes care of this – send
them in in an envelope to be sent to the office.
Campbell’s Soup Labels:
-
Clip and save UPC labels and caps;
-
Goldfish labels;
-
Put in an envelope and send in;
-
Need a parent (coordinator) to take over and
start it up in September;
-
Students can earn cameras, markers and other
neat things;
-
Would need a supervisor here at school;
-
Maybe the 3rd Wednesday of each
month – send a couple of students around to collect labels and bring to one
spot, say office or library where supervisor would then pick them up;
-
Cindy needs to read what we need so this can
be put on our website.
