POLICIES EMERGENCY CARDS
It is very important, for emergency and administrative reasons, that every
student maintain an up-to-date address record, parent work number and emergency
numbers in the school office. Notify the school in writing immediately if you
have a change of address, phone number (home or work) or change of emergency
contact during the school year.
OUTDOOR RECESS
Recess programs help students develop physically and socially while providing
an important energy release. Whenever possible, recess is held outside. Parents
should provide appropriate clothing (coats, hats, mittens, scarves) for children
for use on chilly days. Names should be on all items of clothing.
Playground rules will be explained to students by their teachers and are
expected to be followed.
DRESS CODE
Studies have shown that children learn better when they feel comfortable
about their appearance. School attire should be appropriate to the learning
situation. Clothes that are distracting to instruction are considered
inappropriate and this includes: T-shirts with inappropriate language or
alcoholic beverages advertisements, extremely brief garments (tube tops, net
tops, spaghetti straps, see-through garments) and items that denigrate others.
The wearing of hats except for medical or religious purposes is not allowed in
the school building. Loose fitting shoes such as clogs, flip-flops or untied
sneakers can cause falls. Therefore, we ask that "secure" footwear be
worn at school.
LOST AND FOUND
Please label all clothing that may be misplaced at school (hats, coats,
mittens, etc.) Lunch boxes and book bags should also include your child’s name.
Articles found in and around the school will be placed on the lost and found
cart located near the gym. Found jewelry and glasses will be kept in the office.
Articles not claimed will be disposed of or donated in December and June.
Parents, from time to time, when you are in school, please check the lost and
found cart. You may find something you did not realize was missing.
ELECTRONIC GAMES & EQUIPMENT
Equipment including games, walkman, beepers and cell phones are not allowed
in school or on the busses. This equipment is expensive and can readily be
damaged or stolen.
